know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em

I really doubt Kenny Rogers was thinking about adoption when he sang those words but these lyrics have been running through my head the last few days.

This week we hit another little pothole which means it might take us even longer to get our contracts to our agency and after talking to our social worker it sounds like the likelihood of Canada slowing down or closing to the DRC is very, very possible.

As people we know are completing adoptions that started at about the same time as ours I’ve sunk into a bit of a depressed state in the last week.

We’ve prayed about it and considered the options and we really believe that we are supposed to continue with the DRC but it’s very hard with all the unknowns,  the possibility of losing tens of thousands of dollars, all the emotional ups and downs . . .

Right now I’m praying hard for both the Canadian and DRC governments, praying this all works out.

So thankful today for the little one we do have.

with love,
Chantel

  1. Oh Chantel, I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve hit a bump! It can be so hard waiting and trusting, without going crazy. I’ll be praying for your situation, and for wisdom. Hugs! Xoxo

  2. Oh Boy I know exactly where you are at. I know it can be tough with the unknowns, the possibility of loosing money, and really everything that goes along with that. BUT we need to hold on to God’s promises for us. You know He put adoption on your heart, mine as well. He placed Africa on your heart, well again mine as well. So If we pray and hold on to Psalm 37:4 (Or the whole chapter) It says:”Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.”NASB

So If God has given us the desire to adopt from Africa… He has a plan, it just might look a lot different than ours 😉

Praying for the same things as you my dear!!!

  4. I keep thinking about this and keep praying…can not imagine. Hang in there. God has a child waiting for you…it’s just a matter of you finding each other.

  5. Oh friend- still praying for you and your family – we had similar issues – having to “change course” after some time – but keep giving it to The Lord and sometimes He just wants to “redirect the path” – still guiding you but down a different road to get there 😉
Hugs, thoughts and prayers blog friend!!!
