• When God Weaves a Complicated Story

When God Weaves a Complicated Story

I submitted this article as a guest post submission to a blog awhile ago and it didn’t get chosen so I thought instead of just tossing it I would share it here. We just got off the phone from a call we had been dreading might come, our adoption agency told us they would no longer be able to work with us. This was our third agency in a year and a half, we had invested approximately $10,000 at this point and had nothing to show from it, we were back at square one. We felt like God had called us to adopt but after hitting roadblock after roadblock and…

  • Ladies, Let's

    Let’s Love Each Other Well

Ladies, Let’s gather the courage to be nice to each other. Let’s remember that often timidity, snobbery or gossip, is actually a cloak for insecurity. Let’s try to be the first ones to smile, to say hello and introduce ourselves. Let’s be the ones to build others up. Let’s be the church, the hands and feet of Jesus. When we feel envy rising within us, let’s count our blessings and be thankful. When we see others struggling, let’s come up beside them and help see them through. Let’s lose our negativity and focus on Christ. Let’s get over our own insecurities and compliment each other. Let’s motivate without being condescending.…

  • A Simplified Birthday Bucket List

For the past few years I’ve created an annual bucket list around my birthday with items that I’d like to accomplish or attempt before my next birthday comes around. I’ve corresponded the number on the list with the number I am turning; last year I turned twenty-nine so I created a list of twenty-nine things to do while I was twenty-nine (easy enough, right?). This has served me well for the last few years but this time I knew I wanted something different, something simpler. For the past couple of years I have been a journey of learning (and often re-learning) how to live a more simple life and this year I…

    Grace Upon Grace

I thought parenting was going to reveal my strengths, never realizing that God had ordained it to reveal my weaknesses. Some days parenting is tough. That quote above ^ hits the nail right on the head. Lately I’ve had feelings of failure, when I hear my kids’ bad attitudes I know what I am actually hearing is echos of my own heart and attitude. I’ve been realizing my own need for grace. We need days of failure because they help humble us, and through them we can see how God’s grace is poured out on the humble. I mess up, I get frustrated and yet my children still love me.…

Why I Want To Homeschool & Why We Aren’t (Exactly)

Two and a half years ago I shared some thoughts that I had on public school vs private Christian school vs homeschool and at the time all three were very possible options. Raeca turns five this fall so I thought I’d do a bit of an update. In the last year or so we have ruled out public school (the main reason being the fact that our town only has one public elementary school and it is so overcrowded, the downside to living in such a growing community), and I didn’t like the idea of our kids probably not having any friends they know in their class from year to…
