advocate // for the enslaved and trafficked // introduction

I am really excited to launch this advocate series, and thrilled that there are others out there that are excited too! My original intent was to do one post per topic/cause but as I’ve quickly some to realize, the topics are so much more in depth than that. Some might just be one post, others will definitely be multiple.

I randomly chose to start with the enslaved and trafficked and the information I’ve come across has been overwhelming, not to mention gut wrenching and heart breaking. I’ve come across so much information that I will be breaking it down into a few different posts over the next week or so.

My goal behind sharing these advocate posts is to raise awareness and to help people like you find a cause to be passionate about and take action against.

I want to start this week off by sharing this powerful video by Stella’s Voice. Stella’s Voice is based out of Moldova -a country I had never even heard of until I started researching about human trafficking. I’ve watched dozens of videos about trafficking in the last year but none have hit me like this one. If you have six and a half minutes to spare, please watch this video. If you have even more time you can check out the half hour documentary here.

The mission of Stella’s Voice:

Our vision is to be the voice that speaks for the orphans of Moldova, from the smallest child, to the aged out teen. With each voice that adds with ours, we are able to offer a loving home to more of these innocent children, raising them in a Christian environment as our own.

I invite you to take time in the next week to pray for those enslaved and trafficked. Pray for justice and freedom. Ask God to break your heart for what breaks His, be prepared for the hurt that you will feel, but don’t stop at the hurt; take action.

How You Can Help Stella’s Voice:

* start a fundraiser
* join their prayer team
* go on a trip
* start a gifts drive

Be sure to check back next week for more ways you can help the enslaved and trafficked.

Hi Friend, I would love for you to sign up for my seasonal-ish newsletter! I would love to send it monthly but I feel like in this season of my life that will probably not happen but I would like to commit to sending one out at least every three months.

In the newsletter you can expect little (or big!) life updates, what I've been reading in the Bible, and all sorts of resources I've been loving and lessons God has been teaching me.

      Yay, I’m glad there are others who are into this series. It’s been eye opening to research, that is for sure! My list of different organizations to share and ways to help is getting so long, while there is so much hurt and evil going on out there it is nice to know there are a lot of people fighting to end it.

    Chantel, thank you SO much for doing this blog series!!! When we watched Nefarious last night, it was talking so much about how Moldova is the human trafficking epicenter. It talked a long time about all the orphans who are shuffled into trafficking. SO SO sad!!! I am going to watch this video. Thank you thank you thank you for caring about this important topic!!!! love Katie

    Hi Chantel, I just found your blog from your comment you left on my blog and I wanted to hop over here and say hi and “nice to meet you!” 🙂

    I love that you’re doing this series on advocacy for trafficking awareness. Just in the past year I became aware of the human trafficking/child slavery crisis and was profoundly shocked. (I really thought it was all hype at first!) Since then, we’ve worked to change the way we live (being careful with products we buy, supporting fair trade when possible, etc)

    Looking forward to the rest your series! 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by Erin! I totally get what you mean about originally believing it was all hype. A year ago I totally had no idea all this was going on. It was quite shocking to me!! I’m hoping through this series others will be made aware of the problem of slavery and human trafficking in the world today.

    Chantel- I am so glad you are doing this series. I had not heard of Stella’s voice and I’m sitting here weeping tears on my keys. Thank you for sharing the need. Several months ago, I took this prayer to heart, this one that I heard from Noel Yeatts of World Help, “May we be loud, bold, and outraged” at the injustices – we all MUST use our voices for those who cannot speak for themselves.

    looking forward to the rest of your series, new friend 🙂 may God ignite hearts to action through it.

      Oh I know, Lauren! This video was so powerful for me, for some reason more than any other I have watched yet. Thankfully there are things we can do to help. Now I’m praying that others will be broken to the point of fighting for this cause as well.
      I love that quote by Noel Yeatts -going to write that one down! Thanks for sharing!!

      So I started reading “Awake” after supper yesterday and just finished it. Through the whole book I kept thinking: “she’s writing down exactly what I am thinking”. It was such a good read!

        Chantel: I was able to travel with Noel in October to Guatemala for World Help (organization of which she is the VP). She is the real deal 🙂 Awesome woman of God + doing what she says. She spoke at Liberty University a few months back… I watched it later online and would recommend that message too… good stuff!!!
