Books I Want to Read in 2020

I did not do well with my list of books I wanted to read in 2019. I think I read maybe 5/30 or so. This year I am scaling the list back and making sure I make the books on  my list a priority. I made a video of the books I want to read but I’m kind of terrible at book synopsis’ because I don’t like knowing much about books before going into them so I thought I would copy and paste some descriptions from Amazon here for those who like to know a little more!     Here’s the video:     BOOKS I WANT TO READ IN 2020…

  • My Favorite Fiction Books I Read in 2019

    My Favorite Books of 2019

Last year was a pretty average reading year for me. I read 72 books and rated nine fiction books five star that I would still consider five star books (and one that I would bump down to a four star because I can now hardly remember the book and I only read it a few months ago). I also had a number of five star non-fiction reads throughout the year as well. I created a video of my favorite fiction books that I read in 2019, if you are not a video watcher I will also include a list of the books below. Also, if you are interested in my…

  • What We've Been Reading Lately

What We’ve Been Reading Lately – December

December was a pretty decent reading month in our house. The cold weather makes for some good indoor reading time.     THE MOM I am starting something this month (well, I actually started a couple of weeks ago): attempting to chat about books over on YouTube. There is a whole BookTube community on YouTube that I really enjoy watching and commenting on and for 2020 I wanted to contribute to the conversation by sharing some videos. I have a video with my reading wrap up if you prefer that. If not, you can read on.     I read eight books this month and for the most part they…

On Planners, Setting Goals and Habit Tracking

The beginning of the year always has me thinking all things goals, about my one little word, finding the perfect planner for the year and keeping track of some new habits I want to form. I feel like I have tried every planner known to man and still haven’t found the perfect one. There are little bits from various planners that I like so I usually have a hodge podge of a planner. To be honest, if I was more artistic bullet journaling would be my preferred method, but my writing is kind of a disaster and I can’t draw or doodle to save my life.     So, what…

  • Generous: One Little Word for 2020

    My Word for 2020

Every year I choose one word as a theme for my year. This year is my TENTH year doing so. Yesterday I shared a recap of my word for 2019 (which was adventure) and I mentioned how I was really hoping my word for 2020 would (or could) be rest or a similar such word. Unfortunately, God seemed to have different plans. I usually start thinking of my word a few weeks before the end of the year and generally there are a few different ones that come to mind. I have come up with a lot of good word options over the years but when the right word comes I…

    2019: The Year of Adventure

The one word I chose for myself for 2019 was adventure. I struggled a bit with the word initially because it sounded so entitled, but that’s not how I meant it. I have issues with contentment and part of the reason I chose the word was to find the adventure in the every day. When the year began we had a pile of savings that I had initially planned to be for a Europe trip but I knew God was asking us to do something different with the money. Halfway through the year we began the process to start fostering (we used a lot of that Europe money to make a…
